Week 62 - Dependence and Trust

Dependence is the act of relying on someone or something for a particular task. Once that task is done, the dependence goes away, until the need comes again. But Trust is enduring and lasts for a long time and is applied on everything that a person does.

From the cup of coffee in the morning to the correct temperature in the air conditioner at night, I am dependent on many things for my happiness. We all are. While this material dependence itself is difficult to wean away from, do I have to even explain how hard it will be to detach ourselves from the people that we are dependent on? A husband depends on wife to show him the right path and a wife depends on a husband to give her the emotional support. The kids depend on the parents for everything. And parents, when they grow old, depend on their kids for everything.

After the Khatri's incident last week, Dev and Sonakshi have become friends once again and the "Mujhe farak nahi padtha" dialogue has gone forever (I hope)! It was a very enjoyable week especially because of the absence of this hatred. The absence of Ishwari (for most part) and Bijoy was an added happiness! The show being a daily soap, has an audience that is predominantly womenfolk and therefore you would think that the content is women centered. But the uniqueness of this show is that the narration is from the man's point of view. He becomes the hero or the villain according to the situation thats being told. This week, he was both.😊

With the friendliness that Dev was now feeling with Sonakshi, there was no need for him to wear that "forced" enmity mask. Welcoming Asha warmly into the Dixit home came naturally to him. Asha's smile told us how much she had missed this friendly Dev all these years. For GKB and Vicky though, the friendly Dev was causing a lot of inconvenience! And they tried their best to make themselves feel at home and Asha feel like a completely unwelcome guest! I loved the way Dev stood up for Asha that day :) And I loved the way he told Vicky how special was Sonakshi in terms of what she did for the "family".  Dev had always been protective of Sona from GKB and Vicky as long as his mom was not involved. πŸ˜Š

With his mom's absence Dev and Sona's friendliness grew stronger this week and it was a treat for us! The discussion about the complexity of women was a nice parallel from long time ago and I enjoyed it a lot :) I agree with Dev that a "Good night" from a woman can even be a disguised "I hate you!". However, I will not let him criticize about our "thinking ahead" skills! After the TV or match that the family watches, when its time for dinner, are we going to order from Pizza hut everyday?? We obviously need to think of dinner much before you think of eating!! Men can never understand these things..😏😏 thats why, they are men and we are women!

A mutual dependence between a husband and wife is much more than the trivial things like food.. The dependence grows very naturally and most of the time, we are not even aware of it, unless we are not around for each other. Now that Sonakshi is around, Dev's sudden feeling of somewhat free and out of stress attitude is very nicely captured by the makers..Its a very natural feeling. But the dependence will have no base of support, if there is no trust. Once or twice, we can forgive this lack of trust and treat the person's dependency on us with empathy.. But it cannot be done forever. We will only end up tiring out, proving ourselves to the other person all the time.

Dev is a person that lives in the present, like most of the men. The closeness and friendliness he was experiencing with Sonakshi made him assume a few things and it was obviously a little difficult to digest when he overheard Sonakshi reiterating to Eleena that her relationship with Dev has not changed and will not change and that only the enmity and hatred are not there anymore. As soon as that realization set in his mind, his trust on her also faded almost instantaneously and he started to doubt her sincerity towards his mom's secret! The discomfort was excellently done by the lead actors. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I read in one of the fan comments about how eavesdropping is one of the Dixit family traits... very true I think. Its ok for me, as long as they overhear the whole conversation and not come to a conclusion based on a part of it..I am glad Dev heard the right things including how Sonakshi feels about Dev's fatherhood! Dev's trust on Sonakshi was quickly and quietly reestablished. πŸ˜Š

Sonakshi also does not trust Dev as much. When she faced a problem that involved Dev, she did not trust him enough nor did she depend on him to be a part of her actions. She always preferred to do it alone and then finally show the finished product/action to him. As long as the task was finished well, Dev was all praises for her and she was happy and if there was a problem, especially if his mother is involved in it, then Dev flips and blames her.  This is something that has been happening from the beginning of the show. The relationship has seen its ups and downs and there are now much more reasons to depend on and trust each other. But its still a work in progress relationship. πŸ€“πŸ€“

Even though there is a lack of trust, the "responsibility" and "care" they both feel towards each other has not diminished at all..Thats why, Sonakshi felt the need to take him to the slum to show him that his mom is indeed a noble woman and has been helping many many families there. And Dev rightly acknowledged her pursuit of getting him out of the guilt. This care that they have for each other is what keeps on giving us the hope that one day, this "work in progress" relationship will reach a mature point where they are able to trust each other blindly.

This is a daily soap and viewers should not confuse this with a three hour movie in which the changes we see in characters are quick and clear. Here the changes will happen over a period of time and rightly so, because human relations mature in a very slow pace. The daily events and the situations that they are in, lead them to bigger realizations... One such event was the cute coffee scene, in which Dev expressed in his own cute way of how he still remembers about her favorite Latte and even expressed (as a joke) how he longed for his need to be owned by her.. These little situations are absolutely necessary and play a very important role in re-establishing the lost connection between each other!😊

Dev has always been more expressive especially when it comes to expressing his deep love for her. In an unconscious state, he does that even better!! Thanks to GKB, for creating such a situation for DevAkshi. The regrets he expressed were so honest! "I have plenty of things to regret..I did not love you enough, I fought with you and let you go, when I should have supported you..My heart is full of pain that I am never able to get rid of.. and I long for your company". It was too emotional for me when he went on to say that he wished that he will never wake from sleep at all, but is devastated to wake up everyday and undergo the pain. It was heart wrenching when he asked her hesitantly, if she felt anything like that at all for him with his eyes full of tears..And I cried with him as he told her that he was too tired living without her and that he has been living in pieces all these years waiting for her to come and set everything right again. He said everything that he wanted to say.. and also pleaded her to come back to him and be his own Sonakshi...Even though it was in an unconscious state, as per the story line, things are now expressed crystal clear from Dev's side. Shaheer always outperforms himself and this one just beat his earlier performances! You are a treat to watch, Shaheer and watching you perform these emotional scenes is an experience we cannot resist or take our eyes off!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜πŸ˜

How easily Dev said what he wanted to say... In a way, he kept down all the burden he was holding in his heart for the last seven years.. Sonakshi neither could say anything nor could ignore the storm that he created and pulled her into him. Like she said, he has always managed to capture her and lock her inside his circle of Love and never let her go! Erica did an amazing job as the person who also loved Dev deeply, but unable to express her love only because she knew fully well that Dev cannot support her in their relationship.πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½  As if the pain that she was already experiencing was not enough, Dev in his conscious state acknowledged that what he felt and said was true but also agreed with her that they cannot become one again for the obvious reasons.. and promised to maintain "distance" and never bring up the topic again.. Its probably what Sona wanted to hear as well, but she did feel bad that she herself put an end to any hopes that was remaining of their lives together..However strong women portray themselves, they are dependent on their husbands emotionally and crave for the warmth they get in their husband's shelter. Without that, they cannot perform well. And with that, they can conquer anything in this world! πŸ˜Š

Dev and Sona have to give some time and be in the friend zone. To be in this zone itself is a huge step for them. I am content seeing them like this! Asha and Eleena pretty much echoed the DevAkshi fan comments!! Eleena's excited call to Asha, Asha's amused smile when she caught them both looking into each other's eyes lying on the side walk, were all exactly our emotions! Thank God Ishwari did not see this.. This would haunt her more than the scene that she saw..  Its really good to see DevAkshi well-wishers within the show, so I would only request for more interactions between Eleena and Asha!  πŸ˜„

Khatri's crime is not huge to be in prison for a longer time. And the favor that Dev and Sona are expecting of him is not something that he must oblige to.. Therefore Dev's harsh/impulsive ways of getting the address from Khatri will probably not work. So Sonakshi's smart ways are necessary. I am ok up until this point. Being a Dev and Shaheer fan, this itself took some extra effort from my part to accept..I will argue that when they go to meet a criminal in a police station, its probably a good idea for both to go...But there is probably a need to highlight Sonakshi's temperament..and Dev's impulsiveness.. So I was ok up until this point. However, the fact that Sonakshi had a backup plan in case Khatri gives a wrong address and that she executed the backup plan with Jatin and not with Dev was not something I liked.. It means to me that Sonakshi does not trust Dev. And Dev disappointed me as well.. Up until the point that Sonakshi told him that she got the address from Khatri, he spoke to her as if she was the savior of everything and the moment she told him that Khatri got away by giving a wrong address, Dev totally flipped and blamed Sonakshi. This couple is not ready yet to live together.πŸ˜‘πŸ˜’πŸ˜’

Dev and Sona have so much to work on before they can think of living together again! But even before all that Ishwari's insecurities started again. She was welcomed back to Delhi with the scene of Sonakshi investigating Dev's wounds with care! What more does she need to go into her "worry" mode? What surprised me, like everyone else, was how she failed to even notice the big bandage in Dev's hand...but was so much more concerned for him being with Sonakshi! If only she knew what the two are upto ... Her grand daughter Suhana was right in front of her, but yet, she dwelled only on what she saw and heard between Dev and Sona. If you are going to eavesdrop, why not do it for the whole conversation...πŸ˜’ If only this mother can see what we all see.. πŸ˜’

When the parents become old, they become very dependent on their kids, especially emotionally. I live many thousands of miles away from my parents. Technically, I cannot do anything for them because of the distance. But they depend on me, for that one phone call everyday. There may be nothing new that happened between yesterday and today, yet I make that call, because I know they expect that call. Distance cannot take away that emotional dependence we have on each other. Its one life.. shouldn't we do what we have to do?

There are all sorts of men and women in this world. There are many men who consider their parents as a big burden for them. There are many women who manipulate against their parents-in-law so that they can get 100% of their husband's care, attention and more. Ishwari's insecurities based on this trend that the world today has, is not completely baseless. However, with a little thought, she can clearly see that neither Dev is a son who will leave his mother behind, nor Sonakshi is the woman who will let Dev do something as absurd as that. Dev and Sona can together do wonders for Suhana, Ishwari, Neha, Nikki, Ria, mami, mama, Vicky, Eleena, Golu, Bijoy, Asha, Saurabh, and Rounita. ❤️

--------

Some of the scenes that exceeded bars this week are:

1. Dev's honest regrets and heartfelt apologies in the unconscious state and later a deep sigh and acknowledgement of reality when he was conscious. The writers have conceived this extremely well and Shaheer easily carries these out like a breeze. We can only look at him with awe! πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½❤️πŸ˜„πŸ˜

2. Sonakshi's very deep sadness and helplessness. Erica's portrayal of Sonakshi is very real and we can easily connect with it.πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½ The only problem I have with Sonakshi is her need to act strong and perfect all the time. If Sonakshi can get over this urge, and express her weakness to the ones that she is very dear to.. atleast once, I feel she will feel much lighter and the depth of her sadness will probably reduce.😊

3. Even after Dev and Sonakshi agreed to maintain distance, they come across situations and conversations where they cannot help but think of how nice it will be to be together.. All of those moments are very interesting to watch. In one such scene, while telling Sonakshi about his encounter with Khatri,  I really enjoyed how Dev tried to ease the situation with a friendly appreciation and a gesture of bowing down his head to Sonakshi's skills.πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜Š

4. Sonakshi's rather assertive warning to GKB to stay away from Dev and his family. It was interesting to see GKB become speechless!πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

5. Khatri's walkaway with style! This villain sure brings some new flavor to our show! πŸ˜„

6. Asha and Eleena's secret happiness over the growing bond of DevAkshiπŸ˜˜πŸ’•

7. The pleasant coffee date in which Dev expressed how he wished Sonakshi can express her possessive side to him.πŸ˜„

Looking ahead,

I hope Ishwari and GKB let Dev and Sona be together.πŸ™πŸΌ
In the meantime, I hope Dev and Sona strengthen their trust on each other and respect the fact that they are indeed dependent on each other.πŸ’‘
I hope they somehow extract the address of that family from Khatri and help Ishwari get over the guilt that she has been carrying all these years.πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ
I hope Suhana and Golu bond very well and become the bestest friends that seeing their love for each other, GKB and Vicky realize their grave mistakes.❤️❤️

  1. Brilliant blog. The title couldn't have been apter.
Your words "However strong women portray themselves, they are dependent on their husbands emotionally and crave for the warmth they get in their husband's shelter. Without that they cannot perform well. And without that they cannot conquer anything in this world." So very very meaningful words and I guess in role reversals this stands good for husbands too.
Fully endorse your wish list. Looking forward to your next week's blog. Regards.
