Week 56 - Parenthood

Once upon a time, there was a mighty King and a beautiful Queen. They had a child and then everything changed forever. No matter what you are, the moment you become a parent, your life totally changes. The bad thing is that there is no way back..you are just stuck with it for life! But the good thing is also that there is no way back! 😊 Who wants to look back anyway!!

This week, our show was all about realizing the responsibilities as a parent, acknowledging it and striving hard to be one.👨‍👩‍👧

Dev and Sona have individually been great parents! Although Dev was technically parenting his brother's son, he was pretty much playing the role of a father and even a mother sometimes.. As Golu rightly said, if at all he ever has a need to choose between his mom and dad, he will choose neither and will only be with his Big cha, the Dev Dixit 😁

------

After the snake encounter last week, a tired Sonakshi woke up to a sweet gesture of Dev's small "Get well" note and a box of pain killers :) The repulsion between the two, have now substantially reduced, thanks to the summer camp and especially to the snake sent by GKB.😊

A man is not born a dad. Dev's own loss of his dad at a young age has made him the dad that he is, today. Whether it was for Golu or Suhana, his fatherly instincts are so much lively and is constantly looking for opportunities to enrich the learning and life experience of the kids..I have seen fathers who do the drop off/pick up duties for different activity classes of kids.. Most of the fathers that I see (and mothers too) will sit in a bench with their smart phone and hardly even look at their kids playing soccer, skating or learning any other activity..But if I imagine Dev there, I bet he will be a hands-on person. Participating in those games was something that came naturally to him and he was so interested in doing those! He didnt have to go out of the way to do any of that. I know first hand about how kids "love" if their parents are involved and are hands on! It was no wonder to me that Suhana was indeed impressed with her dad! ❤️😍

The little girl had imagined her father to be tall, handsome, strong, funny just like a movie hero. Her dad Dev, was all that and much more - very caring and loving as well..The moment of her calling Dev as papa was a much awaited moment and did not fail to bring those happy tears. 🤗

Once again, the show's subtlety is what stood out that day, apart from the extraordinary performance of Dev and the little girl. No big drama because of Soha calling "papa", but a heartfelt contentment and happiness filled Dev's, Sonakshi's as well as Golu's eyes..👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I am sure even those that consider Dev as a bad husband will accept the fact that he is a good man. Even Bijoy's first meeting of Dev started at this - a staff came to thank Dev for helping his daughter..Dev has never hesitated to show his generosity to his employees.. nor has he ever shied away from spending his hard earned money towards many good deeds like building a child ward in a hospital.. Sonakshi had always admired and acknowledged the fact that Dev is a good man. Even if it was for only a few moments, it was wonderful to see this side of Dev again and Sonakshi looking at Dev with the same fondness she had during what I call the "Natasha" period 😍😄 There cannot be a better way to celebrate the fatherhood that Dev has now achieved than to celebrate with the less fortunate orphans....👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

How on earth will Suhana choose between these two lovely parents? She needs both mom and dad.. And why not? Dev and Sonakshi are both parent goals, why would their child like only one? But I really liked how Dev tried to explain that they both will probably end up fighting all the time and Suhana will not like that either.. How much can you explain to a six-year old girl about couple compatibility and in-Laws issue.. But ya, Ishwari's possessiveness is like that of a possessiveness of a six year old little girl for her doll.. and that part, Suhana may even understand!! 😉😉

Even though she is just a little girl, she articulated her mind extremely well to her papa and mamma... "You are a much better papa than I ever imagined.. And mamma is already world's best! How can I choose one?? If am with you, I will miss mamma and if I am with mamma, I will miss you"... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Dev is usually a person that thinks via his heart only.. And this time, his heart as well as brain, tell him only one thing - that he needs to make Suhana happy. He needs to be the papa, that his daughter deserves! It looks like just yesterday, when Dev and Sona were struggling with the fact that they cannot have any child.. And here she is, in front of them, their own.. and how can he not give her the very genuine request...😒😢

Parenthood is about self sacrifice.. about keeping your kids above your own needs.. and every parent strives hard to give their child all that they never had as a child. Inspite of all the differences between Dev and Sona, they both are in the same page that they cannot give this child a troubled childhood, just because of their differences. The wonderful part of this show is that both Dev and Sonakshi are "good" ❤️❤️.  Only because they are good, they did not hesitate to sacrifice their "ego" in just a second! It was heartwarming to witness their genuine discussion.. of exploring the possibility of them getting together again! Dev, as a person, has gone through so many phases single handedly..but ever since Sonakshi came in his life even as just a friend, he had created a dependency on her and he surely felt weak when they got separated..but, this state of not being able to see his daughter happy has made him more helpless than ever before.. and I was very keen to see him break his barriers and go above and beyond to make his daughter happy. I knew he would be willing to do anything. Thats the magic of people who give the decision making powers to the heart ❤️

Its really good to see that the summer camp has shattered that heat between Dev and Sonakshi. They are now able to talk more courteously towards each other 😊 Because of the fact that Dev and Sonakshi have been such a lovable couple, there are tons of things that bring back fond memories.. and seeing all that only makes me long for them to get together again..I am looking forward to Dev calling his daughter soon a "tiny mini kharghosh.. "😁 knowing the pulse of the makers, I am sure that they will get us all those scenes very soon 🤓

Along with the courtesy, its very delightful to see some lighter moments in their conversation! Those transport me back to the "pre-Natasha" period 😁 Shaheer and Erica have really gone into the characters they are playing and are proving their chemistry one more time even with their "I hate you" story!! Some actors touch our hearts and remain our favorites because of the characters they have played. Even after many years, I am sure Dev and Sonakshi will live our hearts forever ❤️ There are tons of videos floating around and this week's episodes are sure to be saved in our forever library. They are worth seeing multiple times 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I have well deviated from the story now.. While these beautiful parents are struggling to give what their child needs, the elders stumped me!! I am not saying grandparents don't have rights on their grandchildren... but Ishwari and Bijoy's dialogues were extremely hilarious to me...😂 😲 "achanak se ab Suhana aur Dev ke beech main Sonakshi aa gayi.." Whaaaaaaat? 😲😲 Who came between who??? 😡😡 And Bijoy was like "This is our family matter, don't get Dev into it" What the heck? 😡😡  Ishwari's growing insecurity is well going overboard already! And I fail to understand how she can fail to understand a simple fact that there is no grand daughter Suhana without mom Sonakshi?? And I am also very disturbed by the fact that Bijoy wants to keep Suhana away from her dad. When he himself is a dad, how can he even think of separating Dev from Suhana, especially after the little child has expressed her love for her papa.. Well.. there is just no point in discussing about these old people. Its waste of time. And I hope Dev and Sonakshi will also ignore all these stupid things around them and concentrate on their daughter only.

In today's competitive and highly demanding world, even if both parents slog, we still cant fulfill all the needs of a child. My husband and I often talk about how parenting is too different from the time we were kids.. It now almost seems  to me that every child needs atleast 2 dads and 2 moms. There are plenty of things that the parents these days have to meet apart from "Financial" and "taking care of home"... One parent must be exclusively assigned for giving that extra coaching to meet the pressures of the school! And one parent to go on the mission to make their child the best in "Sports", "Music", "Art" and the infinite co-curricular options!!! So, I am surprised how single parents even pull it off!! 🤔🤔 Dev and Sonakshi have made the right decision of doing it together for their daughter no matter how hard it may get!

When a good friend of mine was going through a divorce, I advised her to really consider again, because as husband and wife we have all the rights to get separated or even kill each other and go to prison! But as father and mother, we don't have any rights to screw up the emotions and future of our children. Every child needs a dad and a mom. Period.  I am 100% sure that Dev and Sona will come with bright and flying colors as the "Bestest parents". In that process, Ishwari's "I will make my grand daughter a Dixit child" will only go into a million unidentifiable pieces!! GKB and Vicky will only end up drinking tons of water after the encounter with the "Choti mirchi" (tiny chilli!!") 😂 Sonakshi's strong and straightforward personality is enough to handle Bijoy!

Before I wrap this week's write up, some scenes that really need a special mention:

1. Dev and Sonakshi's open discussion in front of Sona's house sitting down in the side path - I really loved how this scene has been conceived ❤️ 👏🏻 👏🏻

2. Suhana's crisp and to-the-point explanation to her papa and mom about how she loves both and how she just cannot choose one. 🤗

3. The encounter of both families together in front of Dev-Sona-Soha and how the Trio made a stand that they are now a family and need some decision making powers and how Asha and mama ji supported them!! 👍🏻👍🏻

4. The coffee scene in Dev's office between Dev and Sonakshi for the lighter moments and yet some thought provoking discussion about man-woman equality!👌🏻👌🏻

5. The final scene in front of Sonakshi's house where he reminds himself that this is the nth time he is standing there.. In the past he had come there as a boss, a friend, a boy friend, a "pagal aashiq", and pati.. However, he is now there only as "papa" and nothing else!! Well.. any man can become a father.. it takes someone as special as Dev to become a dad 😊

6. Being the Shaheer fan that I am, all those stylish bike scenes that brought a teenage smile on my face 😍😄 and that last heroic entry into the Bose mansion!!💪🏼 💪🏼

7. The orphanage scene for the powerful message of building a longer table instead of a higher fence when you have more than what you need! On that note, thanks to the fans that participated in our "Be the Change" campaign. Lets try and continue to do more such service to the society that we live in! ❤️

The following week looks so promising with the cute Saurabh Rounita's engagement ceremonies! Dev's stay in the Bose house is definitely going to keep us glued to the TV!

  1. The KRPKAB is truly blessed with brilliant writers, you being one .From your write up I can see that you are a woman with a family like I am. And so I connect with you so well.
Your synopsis and your analysis are bang on. I totally agree with you that parenting is a very difficult task these days where there are all sorts of high intensity pressures both on parents and children. A chlild definitely needs 2 dads and 2 moms to meet the pressures. Of course if grand parents are there as in a joint family it is a great blessing.
As you say Dev and Sona are going to be the bestest parents. What a tragic contrast to Elena and Vikky!
Do keep enlightening us week after week with your articles.
